Does the applicant need a job offer, employer, sponsor, transfer relationship or other employer involvement? What is important about that employer relationship?

An employer hires the worker for needs connected with producing shows, with an authorisation from the special entertainment-placement office; the work nulla osta is issued by the Directorate-General for Employment – entertainment placement office in Rome (or the Palermo office for Sicily). The employer must commit to pay not less than the applicable collective agreements, to provide suitable housing and to pay return travel costs in case of expulsion.

What work does the permission allow? Is the holder tied to an employer, occupation or sector? Can family accompany where clearly established?

The permission covers salaried work in the entertainment sector for the authorising employer: entertainment workers authorised for salaried work may not change sector of activity or the job title under which they were hired; if the employment ends, the nulla osta cannot be used for a new employment relationship. The official source does not state whether family may accompany the holder.

The nulla osta and permit can be renewed during the same employment relationship on proof of regular social-security contributions; these permits cannot be converted (save Art. 14(5)).
