What type of worker, employment situation, occupation or professional activity is this pathway actually designed for?

This route is for a person who is not a British or Irish citizen and has been offered a skilled job in the Isle of Man.

Does the applicant need a job offer, employer, sponsor, transfer relationship or other employer involvement? What is important about that employer relationship?

Yes. The applicant must be employed by an Isle of Man employer, which checks that the applicant can do the job and whether it qualifies for a visa, gives the applicant information such as pay, duties and length of employment, and applies to the Immigration Service for a Confirmation of Employment (CoE).

What are the few decisive professional characteristics of the pathway: occupation, qualifications, experience, salary, skill level, shortage status, labour-market condition or equivalent?

When applying for a CoE, the Isle of Man employer must continue to demonstrate that it has met the Sequential Labour Market Test.

The holder may work for the sponsor in the job described in the certificate of sponsorship, do a second job in certain circumstances, do voluntary work, study if it does not interfere with the sponsored job, travel abroad and return, and bring family members. The holder cannot be self-employed, get public funds, apply for a second job before starting with the sponsor, or change employer within the first twelve months of the initial grant.

How long is the permission normally granted for, how is it renewed, and what longer-term residence direction exists if officially stated?

Entry clearance runs until the earlier of 14 days after the end date on the CoE or 3 years and 1 month from grant; the stay may start up to 14 days before the CoE start date. The visa may be extended for up to another 3 years, provided the total stay does not exceed 6 years. The official page does not state a settlement direction.
