What type of worker, employment situation, occupation or professional activity is this pathway actually designed for?

The route is for non-EEA nationals lawfully resident and employed in another EU member state who are sent by that employer to provide services temporarily in Ireland without a work permit.

Does the applicant need a job offer, employer, sponsor, transfer relationship or other employer involvement? What is important about that employer relationship?

Yes. The worker must be lawfully employed by and on the payroll of the employer in the sending EU country, with a letter from that employer and one from the Irish host company giving contract details and duration.

What are the few decisive professional characteristics of the pathway: occupation, qualifications, experience, salary, skill level, shortage status, labour-market condition or equivalent?

No minimum prior employment period is required; the posting must be temporary. Self-employed people and intra-company transferees are not eligible.

What work does the permission allow? Is the holder tied to an employer, occupation or sector? Can family accompany where clearly established?

The permission allows only the work for which it was granted, and the employee must return to the sending country at the end. Family members may not accompany or join the holder, except as visitors or with their own permission.

How long is the permission normally granted for, how is it renewed, and what longer-term residence direction exists if officially stated?

Permission lasts for the contract duration, up to a maximum of 12 consecutive months, and gives no entitlement to permanent residence. The official source does not state whether it can be renewed.
