What education or training is this pathway designed for?

Post-study permission for non-EEA graduates of Irish institutions holding a level 8 or 9 award, to look for graduate-level work and apply for an employment permit or research hosting agreement.

What type of institution/course must accept or enrol the applicant?

The award must come from a recognised Irish awarding body: Irish universities (e.g. Trinity, UCD, DCU, TU Dublin, Maynooth, MTU, UCC, NUIG, UL), RCSI, Institutes of Technology or QQI.

What are the most important financial or study-related conditions: tuition, funds, insurance, full-time study, attendance or equivalent?

The applicant must hold a current Stamp 2 and registration, apply within 6 months of the award notification, have medical insurance and pay a €300 registration fee; a previous level-8 participant may re-enter for 12 months on a higher award, within the 8-year limit.

Stamp 1G holders may work full time (up to 40 hours a week) without an employment permit, but may not operate a business or be self-employed.

How long does the status last, how is it renewed, and what officially documented post-study work or residence possibilities exist?

12 months initially, renewable for a further 12 months (within the 8-year limit) if the graduate shows steps to find graduate-level work. On obtaining an employment permit the graduate can register on Stamp 1.
