What work does the permission allow? Is the holder tied to an employer, occupation or sector? Can family accompany where clearly established?

Trainees transfer for a maximum of 12 months under a detailed training programme and remain on the foreign employer's payroll; if they stop being employed by the foreign employer or stop participating in the programme, or when the permit expires, they must return to their country of origin. Unlike the general 9-month bar on a new permit for a different employer, a trainee may apply for a Critical Skills or General Employment Permit during that period. Holders may change employer after a transfer under the 2003 Transfer of Undertakings Regulations. Spouses, partners and dependants must apply for their own Employment Permit.
