It is for 3rd-level students studying outside the State in approved/accredited institutions, for a paid internship that is integral to their course (required to graduate); medical and unpaid internships are not permitted. What work does the permission allow? Is the holder tied to an employer, occupation or sector? Can family accompany where clearly established?

The permission allows the holder to undertake the paid internship for which it was granted. It is tied to the specific role and purpose: permission is granted for the sole purpose it was applied for and is not transferable for any other role or purpose. Family members may not accompany the person availing of the Scheme.
