C5 covers journalistic visits and news coverage in Indonesia; the holder may also travel as a tourist and visit friends and family. The holder may not sell goods or services or receive compensation or wages for work or business from individuals or companies in Indonesia.

What maximum stay, rolling-period rule, validity and entry rules apply?

It is valid for one entry. The first stay is up to 60 days from the date of arrival and can be extended several times up to a maximum of 180 days. The visa must be used within 90 days of issue, otherwise a new visa is needed; visa validity is different from the length of stay.

What important funds, accommodation, invitation, insurance, onward-travel or passport evidence may be required?

The applicant needs a travel document valid for at least 6 months (12 months for travel documents other than a national passport, such as emergency passports or identity documents), proof of living costs in Indonesia in the form of the last 3 months' bank statements in the name of the foreigner or the sponsor, and a recent colour photograph (within the last year). Special requirements are a press identity card and an invitation or letter from a government agency, an interview transcript approved by the source, or a statement from an Indonesian government representative abroad about the planned coverage. Stateless foreigners and holders of travel documents that are not national passports (temporary or emergency passports, titre de voyage, certificate of identity, laissez passer or similar) must attach a re-entry permit to the country where the visit visa was applied for and a return or onward ticket (except transport crew). Where/how is permission obtained when required, and under what important circumstances can a stay be extended or changed?

The applicant creates an account at evisa.imigrasi.go.id and applies online after logging in; applications are handled at an Indonesian mission or by the Directorate General of Immigration, with processing of five working days after the visa payment is received. The fee for a 60-day stay is Rp. 2.000.000 (C5 visa fee Rp 1.000.000 plus verification fee Rp 1.000.000). The stay permit can be extended several times up to a maximum of 180 days, online by the sponsor through the account registered at evisa.imigrasi.go.id, and can be converted into a limited stay permit (Izin Tinggal Terbatas) with the same sponsor.
