A visa is required in advance: C15 needs a sponsor, and the sponsor must hold an account at evisa.imigrasi.go.id before applying for the sponsored foreigner.

What short-visit purposes does this route cover?

Emergency and urgent unplanned work that cannot be delegated to someone else, to deal with events such as natural disasters, breakdown of main machinery, or riots/demonstrations/unrest needing immediate handling to avoid fatal losses to a company or the public; tourism and visiting friends and family are also allowed.

What maximum stay, rolling-period rule, validity and entry rules apply?

Single entry; first stay of up to 60 days from arrival, extendable several times up to a maximum of 180 days. The visa is valid for 90 days from issue; if not used in that time, a new visa is needed.

What important funds, accommodation, invitation, insurance, onward-travel or passport evidence may be required?

Travel document valid for at least 6 months (12 months for non-national documents such as emergency passports); a bank statement for the last 3 months in the name of the foreigner or sponsor of at least USD 2,000 or equivalent; a letter from a government body or private organisation explaining why the foreigner's presence is urgent; stateless persons and holders of non-national travel documents must also attach a re-entry permit and a return or onward ticket (crew excepted).

Where/how is permission obtained when required, and under what important circumstances can a stay be extended or changed?

After registering, the sponsor applies for the C15 visa online at evisa.imigrasi.go.id with the foreigner's electronic documents; processing takes five working days after the visa fee is received. The stay can be extended online by the sponsor and can be converted to a limited-stay permit (ITAS) with the same sponsor.
