Does the applicant need a job offer, employer, sponsor, transfer relationship or other employer involvement? What is important about that employer relationship?

An employer is involved: an employer intending to employ third-country nationals for a period not exceeding 90 days is advised to review Government Decree 445/2013 on authorising such employment under a non-single-application procedure, and to contact the competent government office for the prospective place of employment in order to apply for a work permit.

Limits of the record
  • The factsheet is addressed to employers, not to the worker, so it describes the employer's duties rather than the worker's relationship with the employer.
  • It does not say whether the worker may change employer, nor what happens if the employment ends.

What are the few decisive professional characteristics of the pathway: occupation, qualifications, experience, salary, skill level, shortage status, labour-market condition or equivalent?

The decisive condition is procedural rather than professional: the right to stay does not exempt the person from the conditions set by other legislation on employment, in particular the requirement to obtain a work permit issued by the competent employment authority. The official source does not state any occupation, qualification, experience, salary or labour-market requirement.

However, this does not exempt them from fulfilling the conditions prescribed in other legislation in relation to employment, in particular the requirement to obtain a work permit issued by the competent employment authority.

What work does the permission allow? Is the holder tied to an employer, occupation or sector? Can family accompany where clearly established?

A third-country national entitled to visa-free entry may enter Hungary without applying for a visa once the work permit has been obtained, and may commence employment not exceeding 90 days. The official source does not state whether the holder is tied to one employer, occupation or sector, or whether family members may accompany the holder.
