Some nationalities are exempt from a Georgian visa by law and government ordinance; holders of certain other countries' visas/residence permits and holders of Georgian residence permits can also enter without a visa.

Up to 90 calendar days in any 180-day period; citizens of countries listed by government ordinance may stay one full year.

A valid travel document. From 1 January 2026 tourists must hold health and accident insurance of at least GEL 30,000 (in Georgian or English). Entry can be refused without insurance or enough funds to stay and return.

Where/how is permission obtained when required, and under what important circumstances can a stay be extended or changed?

In special circumstances, on a reasonable request, the obligation to leave can be deferred once for up to 3 months, for the same purpose for which the stay was permitted. An alien applies to the Agency for a residence permit 40 calendar days before the lawful stay expires.
