What type of worker, employment situation, occupation or professional activity is this pathway actually designed for?

The pathway is designed for a worker who has been hired directly by a French or foreign employer to work as a model or a model's professional assistant (hairdresser, make-up artist, photographer, etc.) and is employed in France for three months or less.

If you are employed in France for three months or less, you must provide evidence of the event(s), show(s), or photo session(s) in France, and your direct involvement in them (for example, an employment contract). You will be issued with a short-stay visa (which is valid for up to 180 days and entitles you to be in France for a maximum of 90 consecutive or non-consecutive days). You do not need to apply for a work permit.

Does the applicant need a job offer, employer, sponsor, transfer relationship or other employer involvement? What is important about that employer relationship?

The applicant needs an employment contract, fixed-term or permanent, with a private employer (domestic job), a company or another type of organisation. Any employer or company in France wishing to recruit must first request authorisation from the French authorities.

What are the few decisive professional characteristics of the pathway: occupation, qualifications, experience, salary, skill level, shortage status, labour-market condition or equivalent?

For contracts of 90 days or less, the employer is exempt from prior work authorisation when the work concerns: sporting, cultural, artistic or scientific events; conferences, seminars or trade fairs; production and distribution of cinematographic or audio-visual performances or music publishing for directly involved artists and technicians; occasional teaching by visiting salaried teachers; or providing the employer's services during the stay.

What work does the permission allow? Is the holder tied to an employer, occupation or sector? Can family accompany where clearly established?

The checked official sources did not provide enough route-specific evidence to confirm the work allowed, any tie to employer or sector and family accompaniment.

Limits of the record
  • Searched the France-Visas short- or long-term recruitment section: it gives visa types/durations (R5 material) but does not state what work the permission allows, any employer tie, or the family position.

How long is the permission normally granted for, how is it renewed, and what longer-term residence direction exists if officially stated?

For direct recruitment with an employment contract not exceeding 90 days, the visa is a short-stay visa with a maximum validity period of 180 days and a consecutive presence (or not) equal to at least 90 days. The document does not state how the permission is renewed or any longer-term residence direction.
