Does the applicant need a job offer, employer, sponsor, transfer relationship or other employer involvement? What is important about that employer relationship?

The applicant must have a job, and the employer must supplement the application by filling in the terms of employment (not needed where the applicant pursues a trade or business and is not an employee). A supply contract indicating the work covered must be attached to the application.

What work does the permission allow? Is the holder tied to an employer, occupation or sector? Can family accompany where clearly established?

The right to work covers the work for which the residence permit was granted; it begins when the permit is granted (work cannot start before) and ends when the permit expires. Spouse and children can apply for a D visa if they apply for a residence permit on the basis of family ties.

How long is the permission normally granted for, how is it renewed, and what longer-term residence direction exists if officially stated?

Work under this permit may last for a maximum of one year; to work longer, a residence permit for an employed person is needed.
