Does the applicant need a job offer, employer, sponsor, transfer relationship or other employer involvement? What is important about that employer relationship?

The applicant must have a job, and the employer must supplement the application by filling in the terms of employment (not needed where the applicant pursues a trade or business and is not an employee). A supply contract indicating the work covered must be attached to the application.

What are the few decisive professional characteristics of the pathway: occupation, qualifications, experience, salary, skill level, shortage status, labour-market condition or equivalent?

The work applied for must be the main source of income. Paid employment must pay at least the minimum in the relevant collective agreement; where there is no collective agreement or the work is part-time, salary must be at least EUR 1,463 per month in 2026, and income from a trade or business (alone or combined with employment) must be at least EUR 1,463 per month in 2026.

What work does the permission allow? Is the holder tied to an employer, occupation or sector? Can family accompany where clearly established?

The right to work covers the work for which the residence permit was granted; it begins when the permit is granted (work cannot start before) and ends when the permit expires. The holder may work in paid employment or pursue a trade or business without establishing a company. Spouse and children can apply for a D visa if they apply for a residence permit on the basis of family ties.

How long is the permission normally granted for, how is it renewed, and what longer-term residence direction exists if officially stated?

The work may last for a maximum of one year; to work longer, the holder needs to apply for a residence permit for an employed person. The official source does not state how this permit is renewed.
