Which nationalities and age range can participate?

New Zealand citizens who are habitually resident in New Zealand may apply. They must hold a valid New Zealand passport and be at least 18 and no older than 31 when submitting the application.

What combination of travel, work, study or training does the programme permit?

The main purpose is an extended holiday, with paid employment only to supplement travel funds. The permit allows salaried work for up to six months during a twelve-month stay, no more than three months for one employer, and education or courses for up to three months. Running a business is not allowed.

What are the defining limitations: quota, ballot, previous participation, employer limits, study limits or equivalent?

A previous Danish Working Holiday stay prevents a new participation. Working months are counted by the months in which the employer reports salary, regardless of days or hours worked. Exceeding the work limits or running a business counts as illegal work and may lead to revocation. Family members cannot obtain accompanying residence through this programme.

What funds, insurance, onward travel or similar preparation is particularly important?

Applicants need at least DKK 24,000 in accessible funds plus a return ticket or DKK 5,000 for one: DKK 29,000 without the ticket. Bank evidence must identify the applicant, balance and currency, be no more than 30 days old and use the same date for multiple statements. Comprehensive medical and hospitalisation insurance must cover the whole stay. Restricted investments and another person's bank balance are not accepted.

How long can the person stay, can the programme be extended or repeated, and what happens when it ends?

The maximum stay is one year from entry. Passport validity, insurance expiry or an earlier return ticket can shorten the initial permit; correcting that limitation can support an extension within the overall year. A new Working Holiday participation is not possible after an earlier Danish stay, and the permit cannot be treated as open-ended residence.
