What type of worker, employment situation, occupation or professional activity is this pathway actually designed for?

Limits of the record
  • The applicant must still meet the qualifying study and job-seeking conditions.

What are the few decisive professional characteristics of the pathway: occupation, qualifications, experience, salary, skill level, shortage status, labour-market condition or equivalent?

The applicant must have been granted or be eligible for a 3-year job-seeking period (or a 6-month period linked to a master’s programme for working professionals) and have completed a state-approved programme with a professional bachelor’s, bachelor’s, part-time master’s, master’s or PhD degree. Academy Profession (AP) graduates and graduates of non-state-approved programmes cannot apply.

What work does the permission allow? Is the holder tied to an employer, occupation or sector? Can family accompany where clearly established?

The permit allows work beyond 90 hours per month, full time from the day the application is submitted while SIRI processes it. The holder can be self-employed or work for any employer, change employer or work for several employers without a new work permit. The official source does not state whether family can accompany.

How long is the permission normally granted for, how is it renewed, and what longer-term residence direction exists if officially stated?

The work permit is valid for the same period as the job-seeking residence permit and is automatically extended if the job-seeking permit is extended, without a separate application; holders of a 6-month period linked to a master’s for working professionals can get it for that 6-month period. The official source does not state any longer-term residence direction.
