Visa-Free Short Stay

If you are a citizen of a country without a visa requirement, you do not need a visa to travel to Denmark.

If you are traveling visa-free, you may stay in the Schengen region and in Greenland and on the Faroe Islands for a maximum combined of 90 days in any 180-day period. The 90 days can be used either for one long stay or several shorter stays.

Note: Both the entry day and the exit day count towards the 90 days in any 180-day period – regardless of the time of day you enter or exit the country.

Citizens of certain countries are entitled to stay in Denmark for 90 days or 3 months, regardless of stays in other Schengen countries Citizens of Australia, Canada, Chile, Israel, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea and the US can freely enter and stay in Denmark for the following periods, regardless of whether you have stayed in another Schengen country prior to entry into Denmark.

You have a valid passport or other forms of valid travel document. The passport or travel document must be valid for three months past the intended date of departure from the Schengen area. Moreover, the passport or travel document must have been issued within the past 10 years.

As a general rule, you must have at your disposal approx. DKK 350 per day. A smaller amount may be accepted if you are staying in a privately owned home and your host will cover all the costs. If you are staying at a hotel, you must have a greater amount at your disposal, approx. DKK 500 per day.

You can substantiate, and, to the required extent, document the purpose of your stay in Denmark.
