Can the student work? Under what major restrictions? What is the family position where clearly stated?

The permit includes a limited work permit: up to 90 hours per month September-May and full time June-August, the same right to work as during studies; excess hours are illegal (fine or revocation). For a job needing more hours the holder can apply for a work permit without limitations (only for state-approved programmes) or a job-based residence and work permit, and may work while the latter is processed. Spouse or cohabiting partner and children under 18 at home can be granted a permit.

How long does the status last, how is it renewed, and what officially documented post-study work or residence possibilities exist?

Graduates of state-approved professional bachelor, bachelor, master or PhD programmes can get a residence permit valid for up to 3 years for job seeking. SIRI automatically grants the 3-year period with the study permit if passport validity allows. An extension of the job-seeking permit up to 3 years can be sought no earlier than 4 months before expiry. To work more than 90 hours per month the holder must apply for a work permit without limitations or a job-based residence and work permit.
