What type of worker, employment situation, occupation or professional activity is this pathway actually designed for?

Foreign nationals employed in Danish agriculture as a herdsman or farm manager; not farm workers, mink farm hands, or managers in horticulture or forestry.

You can be granted a residence and work permit if you are employed as a herdsman or farm manager in agriculture.

You cannot, for example, be granted a permit to work as a farm worker or mink farm hand. Nor can you be granted a permit as a manager within horticulture or forestry.

Does the applicant need a job offer, employer, sponsor, transfer relationship or other employer involvement? What is important about that employer relationship?

Yes. A job offer or employment contract (as a rule with a company registered in Denmark) stating all terms is required; the permit is linked to that job.

There are no indicative salary levels for farm managers. The total salary is determined individually, based on the content and responsibilities of the position – but it must in total exceed the salary of a herdsman.

Your salary must be paid into a Danish bank account in your own name, and the bank has to be operating legally in Denmark.

Work only in the permitted job and workplace (a new position even at the same workplace needs a new permit); a sideline job needs a separate permit. Spouse/partner and children under 18 living at home can accompany.

You are only allowed to work in the job and in the workplace that you have been granted a permit to work in.

Your work permit is limited to the employment that your permit is granted for. You must not work in other positions than the one stated in your permit. This also applies if you are offered a new position at the same workplace.

A permit can be granted to your spouse, registered or cohabiting partner as well as children under the age of 18 living at home.

Maximum 4 years at a time, not beyond the job contract; an extension must be applied for before the permit expires; a new job requires a new application.
