Which exceptional-talent, academic, scientific, artistic, technological, cultural or other profiles does the pathway target?

This is long-term residence for third-country scientific researchers who intend to stay over three months and perform research under a hosting agreement with an eligible research organisation in Czechia. Public research institutions, universities and approved research organisations are identified; the approved host list is administered by the Education Ministry.

Can the holder change employer, work independently, establish a business or conduct other professional activity? What is the family position?

The permit gives free access to the Czech labour market without separate work authorisation, while the research purpose must continue. After research completion, a separate jobseeker or business-start residence application is possible. Vaši rodinní příslušníci mohou v tomto případě stejným způsobem žádat o dlouhodobý pobyt za účelem sloučení rodiny.

What duration, renewal and accelerated or normal longer-term residence pathway is officially stated?

The permit is issued for up to 2 years. If the holder continues research in Czechia it can be extended repeatedly, each time for up to 2 years, filing no earlier than 120 days before expiry and no later than the last day of validity.
