Limits of the record
  • Searched the SINP International Skilled Worker procedures-and-guidelines capture for eligible occupations, NOC, qualifications, education, years of work experience, language/CLB, salary, skill level, shortage and the points grid. The page carries only the sub-category description ('Have a job offer for a skilled occupation in Saskatchewan; Are living abroad or in Canada; and Meet the criteria of the sub-category') and points the reader to separate 'eligibility criteria' and 'required documents' pages that are not among the captures. The only hits for 'points' are about supporting points claimed in an EOI profile at completeness check, not about qualifying criteria.

What work does the permission allow? Is the holder tied to an employer, occupation or sector? Can family accompany where clearly established?

The nomination is tied to the approved job and employer. A Nomination Certificate may be withdrawn for failing to obtain the work permit and begin working, if the SINP deems the job offer invalid, for not applying for a work permit within 90 days of receiving the nomination certificate and Work Permit Support Letter, for not starting work for the supporting employer within 90 days of receiving the closed work permit, or for not reporting within 10 days any change to the approved offer, such as a new employer, position or location, hours below 30 per week or an absence over six consecutive weeks. The official source does not state whether family may accompany.

Limits of the record
  • The capture does not say whether family may accompany the holder of that closed work permit, or whether a spouse may work.
  • It states no length for the work permit itself.

How long is the permission normally granted for, how is it renewed, and what longer-term residence direction exists if officially stated?

The nomination certificate can be extended: the request must be made within 90 days of the nomination expiring and must give a detailed reason, and each extension is valid for three months. At most two extensions may be granted for delays in submitting the permanent-residence application (only one of them for difficulty accumulating the IRCC processing fees); approval is not guaranteed and the SINP may grant shorter periods. The official source does not state the initial validity of the nomination or any work permit, or a longer-term residence direction.

Limits of the record
  • The six-month validity of the nomination certificate is stated in a separate sentence earlier on the page and is not inside this quotation.
  • The capture states no work-permit duration, only the nomination certificate's.

Requests for an extension must be made within 90 days of the nomination expiring. The expiry date for a nomination is located on the nomination letter. You must provide a detailed explanation as to the reason for the expiry in your request. An extension of a nomination certificate will be valid for three months. A maximum of two extensions may be granted for reasons that delayed the submission of a Permanent Resident Application (e.g. if IRCC requests an extension or requires re-application, if there are delays in obtaining a police certificate, a change to employment status, technical delivery errors on the SINP's part, etc.). Only one of those extensions may be granted to nominees who are having difficulty accumulating the funds needed to pay IRCC processing fees. There is no guarantee that a request for an extension and/or revision will be approved. The SINP reserves the right to provide shorter extension periods in some instances.
