Which travellers require a transit visa/permission and which officially documented exemptions are important?

Decree 2023/147 provides for a transit visa granted to a foreigner in transit, with validity capped at five days (Article 22). The decree does not exempt any traveller from needing the transit permission itself, nor set an airside or nationality-based exemption.

Limits of the record
  • The 2026 edition contains two Article 548 texts (a general exemption list at printed p. 198 and the amended national tariff at printed p. 440); the code itself does not state how they interact for a transit visa of exactly four to five days. Reciprocity conditions for non-CEMAC nationals are stated but not detailed. No nationality-based or airside transit-visa exemption is established by the captured decree.

Can the traveller remain airside, and under what circumstances must immigration control be crossed?

The 1997 law text defines transit as travel through Cameroon where the final destination is not within Cameroon, for no more than five days. The official sources do not distinguish airside transit from crossing the border.

Limits of the record
  • Airport-specific airside/landside visa exemptions were not established by the sources captured.

What officially documented baggage collection, terminal, separate-ticket or self-transfer situations affect the immigration requirement?

The checked official sources did not provide enough route-specific evidence to confirm any baggage collection, terminal-change, separate-ticket or self-transfer situation that affects the transit requirement.

Limits of the record
  • No airport operating procedure or baggage rule is stated in the captured immigration instruments.

What maximum transit period, overnight, airport-change or multiple-stop rules matter?

Transit is defined as travel through Cameroon where the final destination is not within Cameroon, for no more than five days. The official source does not state overnight, airport-change or multiple-stop rules.

  • The official source does not state the complete answer to this question for this route.

If permission is required, what permission is it, where/how is it obtained, and what core onward-travel evidence is required?

Cameroon's 2023 decree provides for a transit visa or online transit-visa authorisation; applications and related payments are made through the dedicated online platform. A transit visa may allow multiple entries and cannot be valid for more than five days. For issuance, the decree requires a travel document valid for at least six months, a ticket valid to the final destination or other proof of onward travel, the final-destination visa or entry authorisation where applicable, and required international vaccination certificates.

Limits of the record
  • The baseline and later amendment conflict on transit stamp-duty exemption. The individual amount, any service charge, reciprocity adjustment and current platform fee breakdown remain unverified; the route does not identify the applicant's issued visa class.

These are the answers currently recorded in the catalogue. A missing or partial answer is not an eligibility decision.
