What education or training is this pathway designed for?

This route covers foreign pupils in a recognised state or regional secondary-education programme accessed through a pupil-exchange programme or an education project managed by an educational institution. The current amended law defines the route more narrowly than the older SFA page suggests.

See recorded sources
Limits of the record
  • The SFA form is undated; its alignment with the amended secondary-education article requires independent review.

What type of institution/course must accept or enrol the applicant?

The pupil must be enrolled in a secondary institution under regular secondary education or participate in a pupil exchange. A minor needs parent/legal-representative consent and a guardian in BiH. The guardian, institution or exchange organisation must accept responsibility for schooling costs, accommodation, support, health insurance and return.

Limits of the record
  • The consulted official sources do not provide a guarantee of approval; general conditions and case-specific assessment still apply.
  • No consolidated 2026 legal text was located; independent review remains pending.

What are the most important financial or study-related conditions: tuition, funds, insurance, full-time study, attendance or equivalent?

The general law requires sufficient support, but the consulted sources set no numeric subsistence or tuition threshold for secondary education. The current statute instead requires the guardian, school or exchange organisation to accept responsibility for schooling costs, accommodation, support, insurance and return. The SFA form separately lists BAM 150 as an administrative fee; its date and current amount remain unconfirmed.

Limits of the record
  • No official secondary-school tuition or numeric funds amount was located in the consulted current act or SFA form.
  • The SFA form is undated; independently confirm its fee and alignment with the amended Article 54a.

Can the student work? Under what major restrictions? What is the family position where clearly stated?

The checked official sources did not provide enough route-specific evidence to confirm whether a pupil holding this residence may work, or the family position.

Limits of the record
  • No work permission for a secondary pupil was established in the provisions consulted; no work right is inferred.

How long does the status last, how is it renewed, and what officially documented post-study work or residence possibilities exist?

A standard secondary-education permit lasts up to one year and may be extended under the same conditions. If it is based on a pupil exchange or education project shorter than one year, the permit lasts for that programme period; it may be extended once for the time needed to finish the exchange or project. A pupil in the final year cannot be older than 20. The official source does not state post-study work or residence options.

Limits of the record
  • No separate post-secondary work or residence transition was identified in the sources consulted.

These are the answers currently recorded in the catalogue. A missing or partial answer is not an eligibility decision.
