Nationals of India are eligible for an entry permit on arrival at the port of entry and must have a passport or a Voter Identity Card; no other identity documents are accepted. Where/how is permission obtained when required, and under what important circumstances can a stay be extended or changed?

Indian nationals are issued an entry permit at the port of entry, and those visiting as tourists may instead obtain prior permit approval by applying online at immi.gov.bt, which the Department recommends to speed up clearance. A permit can be extended through the same online portal; for a permit obtained on arrival the guest or tour operator must visit the nearest immigration office to process the extension.
