EU Long-Term Resident from Another Member State - Study or Vocational Training

have obtained long-term resident status in another State of the Union;

hold a valid residence permit marked " EU long-term resident " issued by that State;

do not constitute a threat to public order, national security or public health;

come to Belgium (a) to work in an employed or self-employed capacity, or (b) to study or receive vocational training, or (c) for other purposes.

a standard certificate issued by an educational institution organised, recognised or subsidised by the Belgian government

Long-term residents coming to Belgium to study or receive vocational training must also present a standard certificate issued by an educational institution organised, recognised or subsidised by the Belgian government and proof that they have sufficient means of subsistence.

Sufficient means of subsistence: Long-term residents coming to Belgium to study or receive vocational training must provide proof that their means of subsistence exceed €803 net/month (minimum amount set for the 2024/2025 academic year). Long-term residents coming to Belgium to work there as self-employed people or for other purposes must provide proof that their means of subsistence exceed EUR 1,038 + EUR 346 per dependent person (amounts indexed on 1 January 2025). The nature and regularity of means of subsistence are also taken into account during their evaluation.

The general rule is that the residence authorisation is granted for a limited period.

D visa holders must apply for registration in the municipality registers where they reside within eight working days of their arrival in Belgium.
