Golden Residency allows employment in Bahrain and grants Golden Residencies to the holder's spouse, children and parents. A holder who wishes to work must obtain an LMRA work permit valid for one or two years; to change employer the existing work permit must first be cancelled through the EMS eSupport function and a new Golden Residency Holder work permit application submitted. A holder who is an investor and one of the partners of the establishment does not have to apply for a work permit.

What duration, renewal and accelerated or normal longer-term residence pathway is officially stated?

For talented individuals, NPRA describes Golden Residency as permanent residence, subject to an administrative fee of BHD 300 every ten years. The application is made on the official eGovernment website; the listed documents include a talent certificate, medical insurance and a six-month bank statement. NPRA states a ten-working-day processing time and payment within 30 days after approval. The official Golden Residency FAQ says there is no minimum stay in Bahrain required to maintain the residency.
