What short-visit purposes does this route cover?

The national portal describes visit visas as issued for individuals invited by companies in Bahrain and for visitors, and transit visas as issued at the request of licensed companies such as hotels or other authorised commercial entities. Work is not covered: a sponsor must apply for a work visa through LMRA. The NPRA electronic-visa application requires a stated reason of visit.

For the two-week single-entry electronic visa NPRA requires a passport copy valid for more than 6 months, a clear copy of the hotel reservation or proof of residential address in Bahrain, proof of a return air ticket, and a bank statement for the past 3 months showing a regular income of at least $1000. Extension of the two-week and three-month electronic visas costs BHD 25 for 14 days and is applied for on an application form at a service centre; NPRA's separate visa-extension service charges BHD 40 for less than 6 days and BHD 50 for 7 to 28 days.
