Does the applicant need a job offer, employer, sponsor, transfer relationship or other employer involvement? What is important about that employer relationship?

The applicant must have a nomination from an Australian employer that was approved in the 6 months before applying. The nominating employer must be the one that sponsored the applicant to work full-time on a subclass 457 or subclass 482 Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa for at least 2 of the 3 years before the nomination. After grant, the holder is expected to work for the nominating employer in regional Australia for at least 2 years, and the visa might be cancelled if they do not.

The applicant must be a transitional subclass 457 or subclass 482 worker who has usually worked full time for their employer in regional Australia for at least 2 years while holding a subclass 457 or TSS visa. What work does the permission allow? Is the holder tied to an employer, occupation or sector? Can family accompany where clearly established?

The visa allows the holder to live, work and study in Australia indefinitely. The holder is expected to work for the nominating employer in regional Australia for at least 2 years, and the visa might be cancelled if they do not; they agree to begin that employment within 6 months of entry to Australia (if granted outside Australia) or of the visa grant date (if granted in Australia). Family members (partner, dependent child or stepchild, the partner's dependent child or stepchild, and the dependent child or stepchild of the applicant's or partner's dependent child or stepchild) can be included when applying or added after applying but before a decision. A subclass 457 or subclass 482 TSS visa holder granted that visa as a member of the applicant's family can also be included. Family members who apply with the applicant must meet health and character requirements.

How long is the permission normally granted for, how is it renewed, and what longer-term residence direction exists if officially stated?

This is a permanent visa allowing the holder to stay in Australia indefinitely from the day it is granted. From the date the visa is granted, holders can travel to and from Australia for up to 5 years; after that a Resident Return visa is needed to keep travelling as a permanent resident.
