A visa is required for holders of national passports and travel documents that are not covered by a unilateral or agreement-based visa-free regime; eligible travellers may apply for an e-visa at evisa.mfa.am, and some nationalities may only obtain a visa with an invitation.

Armenian visas are issued for a maximum of 120 days, with the possibility to extend for another 60 days, unless a different term is set by an international agreement. The official source does not break down separate validity or entry-count rules for single- and multiple-entry visas.

    Foreigners enter the territory of the Republic of Armenia through border-control points. For entry, a foreigner must have a valid passport, entry visa or a document of residency status unless Armenian laws or international agreements define no other procedure.

Where/how is permission obtained when required, and under what important circumstances can a stay be extended or changed?

A visitor visa is applied for online at evisa.mfa.am, or by downloading and submitting the paper visa application form; nationals requiring an invitation-only visa apply at Armenian diplomatic missions or consular offices abroad. To extend a stay, the holder must contact the Migration and Citizenship Service and submit a visa-extension application stating the reason for the extension.
