What type of worker, employment situation, occupation or professional activity is this pathway actually designed for?

C.1 is Andorra's initial cross-border worker authorisation. It allows the holder to work in Andorra permanently for the period of the authorisation but requires them to sleep habitually outside Andorran territory. It is designed for a newly arrived person who fits within the immigration quota, holds an indefinite employment contract with a company legally constituted in Andorra, and keeps residence outside Andorra.

Does the applicant need a job offer, employer, sponsor, transfer relationship or other employer involvement? What is important about that employer relationship?

An Andorran employer is required: the applicant must hold an indefinite employment contract with a company legally constituted in Andorra. The contract itself and a record of the agreed professional and salary conditions must be filed, together with a sworn declaration on the training plan and, where the applicant has already worked in Andorra, a CASS points extract.

Limits of the record
  • The page does not state any employer registration, sponsorship duty or labour-market test, nor which party lodges the application.

What are the few decisive professional characteristics of the pathway: occupation, qualifications, experience, salary, skill level, shortage status, labour-market condition or equivalent?

What makes C.1 distinctive is the residence condition rather than the occupation: the holder works in Andorra but must habitually sleep outside the territory and must produce an official residence (empadronament) certificate for the place where they live. Professional fit is evidenced by a curriculum vitae with diplomas or other documents proving professional qualification, and by the record of professional and salary conditions.

Limits of the record
  • The page publishes no minimum salary, occupation list, shortage list or experience requirement, and does not name the border areas that count as habitual residence outside Andorra.

What work does the permission allow? Is the holder tied to an employer, occupation or sector? Can family accompany where clearly established?

The permission is to work in Andorra permanently for the period of the authorisation; it does not grant residence in Andorra, and the holder must continue to sleep habitually outside Andorran territory and keep residence abroad. Work is based on the indefinite contract with the Andorran company named in the file. The official source does not state whether family may accompany.

Limits of the record
  • The page does not say whether the holder may change employer, occupation or sector without a new authorisation, and it gives no family or dependant rights for cross-border workers.

How long is the permission normally granted for, how is it renewed, and what longer-term residence direction exists if officially stated?

The first authorisation is issued for an initial duration of one year and is renewed for three-year periods, under the separate C.2 renewal procedure. The official source does not state a longer-term residence direction.
