What education or training is this pathway designed for?

This is permission for a foreign national to attend school in American Samoa, starting from a restrictive default: it is the policy of the board not to allow aliens to attend the public school system, or the Community College of American Samoa or private schools and colleges or seminaries if their parents are not living in American Samoa. Two openings exist: an official exchange agreement between the American Samoa Government and the student's home country, or a case-by-case decision by the Immigration Board.

What are the most important financial or study-related conditions: tuition, funds, insurance, full-time study, attendance or equivalent?

A bond and airfare are required on all students; the Attorney General or chief immigration officer sets the cash bond, which may not exceed an amount sufficient to pay transportation costs to the student's home country plus not more than $500. Alien students and approved sponsors must file copies of report cards and attendance records with the office quarterly, and failure to provide such records could result in immediate deportation. A sponsoring family in American Samoa must take responsibility for the student, and a minor needs parental or legal guardian written consent.

Work is possible only with the Immigration Board's written approval in advance: a student authorised under this rule who does not attend the school regularly or engages in any employment without written approval of the board may be subject to immediate deportation. How long does the status last, how is it renewed, and what officially documented post-study work or residence possibilities exist?

The rule ties continued stay to regular attendance and to quarterly filing of report cards and attendance records, and sets no stated number of years and no renewal cycle. The Immigration Board reviews applicants case by case, and the Administrative Code provides form IB 104 Application for Students for that review. There is no post-study work permission written into this rule.
